Job summary

IDEX Corporation is seeking a college student intern in Maryland to support engineering and sales by building mechanical demos, creating sizing guides, and developing CAD models. You will gain hands-on experience with SolidWorks, CAD drawings, and potentially programming, while collaborating with Sales, Engineering, and Marketing.

Qualifications

• Current college student with GPA 2.5+ at a Maryland higher education institution.
• Sophomore standing by start of internship; majoring or minoring in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design, or related discipline.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
• Solidworks experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a mechanical demonstration structure for valve performance comparison.
• Develop and specify a flow loop for internal valve testing.
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings for prototype components.
• Select materials and components for mechanical builds.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure manufacturability and safety of designs.
• Assemble and test prototypes; document performance results.
• Support trade show and customer engagement through technical demonstration.
• Participate in design reviews and provide engineering documentation.
• Assist in root cause analysis and validation testing as needed.
• Create sizing and application guides for valve products.
• Generate or outsource application tools to simulate valve performance.
• Develop charts and drawings for internal tools and sales literature.
• Support Engineering and Sales with technical documentation.
