Job description

This position is responsible for maintaining the facilities' production equipment and systems to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. As a Maintenance team member, you will perform various tasks to achieve production safety, quality, cost efficiency, and operational effectiveness, including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, electrical systems management, and operator interface terminal servicing for a packaging manufacturing facility. You will also be involved in inspecting, installing, and testing new equipment.

Major Responsibilities:

The responsibilities listed below are ongoing throughout the workday, as multiple orders can be handled within one shift:

  1. Service, troubleshoot, and repair industrial components such as motors, variable AC drives, PLCs, servos, sensors, and switches.
  2. Service, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic system components like pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and solenoids.
  3. Maintain detailed repair and work logs.
  4. Keep machinery history reports updated, including repairs, parts exchanges, modifications, and troubleshooting results.
  5. Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform maintenance and repairs.
  6. Achieve targeted equipment performance standards by reducing downtime.
  7. Prioritize repairs to meet efficiency goals and plant needs.
  8. Provide routine preventative maintenance and collaborate with production personnel to maintain and improve quality.
  9. Perform fabrication tasks as needed.
  10. Assist with facility maintenance work when required.
  11. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment and following OSHA safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems.
  • Detail-oriented with industry-specific knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals and follow repair sequences.
  • Hands-on experience with specialty tools and mechanical repairs.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work any schedule needed for the facility.
  • Knowledge of electrical, electronic controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication, and tooling.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics and troubleshoot equipment across all areas.
  • Computer literacy with adaptability to new software.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry over 50 pounds alone, up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Frequent use of hands, reaching, talking, and hearing; occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; lifting up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception, and focus adjustment.
