Job description

MP Engineers+ is seeking a Mid-Level MEP Engineer with 3–7 years of experience in commercial, residential, mixed-use, and facilities design. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing MEP designs, preparing construction documents, performing engineering calculations, and coordinating with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop MEP systems for commercial, residential, mixed-use, and facilities projects.
• Prepare engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, calculations, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Perform and review HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building-system design calculations.
• Select and size equipment and develop system layouts in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate MEP designs with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site surveys and evaluate existing building/facility conditions.
• Review contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and respond to technical comments.
• Assist with construction administration, site inspections, and project coordination.
• Apply applicable NY/NJ building codes, ASHRAE standards, NFPA requirements, and other industry standards.
• Work independently on assigned project tasks while coordinating closely with senior engineers and project managers.
• Support project schedules, budgets, quality control, and client deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 3–7 years of MEP/building systems design experience.
• Experience with commercial, residential, institutional, mixed-use, or facilities projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/Revit MEP.
• Strong understanding of building MEP systems, design principles, and applicable codes.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and develop coordinated construction documents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT or PE certification/license preferred.
• Experience with NYC/NJ building codes and permitting requirements.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, or other building systems.
• Familiarity with HAP, TRACE, or other engineering/design software is a plus.
• Experience supporting projects from conceptual design through construction administration.
