Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical EIT/Designer in Boston to contribute to the Building Engineering Services group.

You will design mechanical systems including HVAC and plumbing for commercial and institutional buildings, support energy modeling, and help develop design packages through all project phases. Candidates should have a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency with Trane TRACE or similar software, and a foundational understanding of energy tools like IES VE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Strong computer skills with MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection tools.
• Active participation in an employee-owned culture is required.

Responsibilities

• Be a contributing team member of the BES mechanical engineering section in the New England region. Design HVAC and Plumbing systems.
• Contribute with basic knowledge of mechanical design concepts, code compliance, and design guidelines.
• Participate in full project phases from feasibility studies to commissioning and close-out.
• Support development of full design packages including basis of design, drawings, and specs.
• Develop sections/elevations for equipment, ductwork, and piping, and create flow diagrams.
• Visit project sites to analyze conditions, monitor progress, and prepare field observation reports.
