Job summary

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising seeks a Mechanical Design EIT/Coordinator to coordinate mechanical design for commercial and institutional projects, perform standard engineering tasks, and develop HVAC loads and energy analyses. You will prepare construction documents, supervise CAD technicians, and liaise with architects and other engineers.

A Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering is required, with strong software skills and a willingness to become EIT for career progression.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects.
  • Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices.
  • Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and mechanical equipment selections.
  • Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines.
  • Take responsibility for construction contract administration requiring field inspections and conflict resolution.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

Mechanical Design EIT/Coordinator

You'll coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects, performing routine mechanical engineering assignments, writing and editing specifications, and utilizing engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and equipment selections. You'll also prepare construction documents, work independently or assist senior engineers, supervise CAD technicians, coordinate design with architects and other disciplines, administer construction contracts, and perform other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
  • Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of \"Coordinator\" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
  • Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
