Job summary

Actalent in New York, NY seeks a Mechanical Drafter to create detailed drawings and 3D models for robotic systems. You will translate concepts into precise, manufacturable documentation guiding fabrication and assembly.

You will collaborate with designers, apply GD&T and ASME Y14 standards, and contribute to CNC, sheet metal, and 3D printing workflows in a fast-paced hardware team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a mechanical drafter in manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD for part and assembly modeling, with Onshape preferred.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and its practical application.
• Understanding of tolerancing, fits (clearance, transition, interference) and surface finish specs.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14 drawing standards.
• Ability to translate engineering sketches into formal production drawings.
• Knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing and casting.

• Experience creating drawings for hand-built or low-volume production environments.
• Familiarity with revision control systems and engineering change order (ECO) processes.
• Nice to have experience with Arena and SolidWorks.

Work Environment

This role involves working closely with mechanical designers in a dynamic environment focused on building robots. The position requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce error-free documentation. The work typically involves complex parts, with feedback loops to vendors and internal teams. The work involves using 3D CAD to prepare and finalize drawings before production.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
