Job summary

Actalent, based in Denver, CO, is seeking a CAD Technician to create and manage 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks. You will support engineering and product data lifecycle activities in a collaborative office environment and participate in ERP and PLM-related workflows.

Qualifications

  • :1–3 years of CAD technician experience or similar role.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with engineering documentation and records maintenance.
  • Familiarity with ECO processes and PLM/document control.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks to support engineering activities.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications to produce clear CAD documentation.
  • Maintain and update engineering documentation per standards.
  • Support ECOs and product lifecycle activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, service and other teams to ensure CAD outputs meet requirements.
  • Assist in organizing and controlling product and engineering documents.
  • Provide CAD drafting support for manufacturing needs including sheet metal and plastics where applicable.
  • Contribute to ERP-related engineering data workflows and documentation processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality and efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly with team members on timelines and deliverables.

Job Title: CAD TechnicianJob Description

This CAD Technician role focuses on creating and managing detailed 2D and 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks, supporting engineering documentation and product lifecycle activities. You will contribute to a stable, straightforward position with clear expectations, gain visibility into the engineering and product data lifecycle, and work closely with cross-functional teams in a collaborative office environment. The role offers the opportunity to support ERP capability build-out, participate in a cultural transformation, and grow within a team that values long-term tenure and open communication.

Responsibilities
  • Create accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks to support engineering and product development activities.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to produce clear, detailed CAD documentation.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain engineering documentation in alignment with established standards and procedures.
  • Support engineering change orders (ECO) and contribute to product lifecycle support activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, service, and other cross-functional teams to ensure CAD outputs meet project and product requirements.
  • Assist in organizing and controlling product and engineering documents, contributing to effective document management and product lifecycle processes.
  • Provide CAD drafting support for manufacturing-related needs, including components such as sheet metal and plastics when applicable.
  • Contribute to the build-out and improvement of ERP-related engineering data and documentation workflows.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance documentation quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly with team members to ensure alignment on project expectations, timelines, and deliverables.
Essential Skills
  • 1–3 years of experience as a CAD technician, drafter, or in a similar CAD-focused role.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling and 2D drafting capabilities.
  • Experience with CAD drafting and the creation of detailed engineering drawings.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience with engineering documentation, including preparation and maintenance of technical drawings and related records.
  • Familiarity with engineering change orders (ECO) and product lifecycle support activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in modeling, drafting, and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment and communicate clearly with engineering and other teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and document control processes.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments, particularly involving sheet metal and plastics components.
  • Familiarity with Adobe and other documentation tools for creating, editing, and managing technical documents.
  • Interest in supporting ERP-related engineering and product data workflows.
  • Ability to adapt within a changing organizational culture and contribute positively to team dynamics.
  • Motivation to grow into roles with broader responsibility, including potential leadership opportunities over time.
