Job summary

Autoliv in Ogden, UT is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our team to drive the design, development, and continual improvement of manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and automated equipment. Qualifications

• 2–5+ years designing tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing equipment for high-volume production.
• Experience with CAD design and equipment troubleshooting.
• Preferred: automation, robotics, vision systems, automotive manufacturing.
• Hands-on shop floor troubleshooting experience.
• Exposure to root cause problem solving (8D, 5 Why), SPC and process capability analysis.
• Lean / continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automated systems.
• Lead equipment and tooling projects supporting production, new product launches, capacity growth, safety improvements, and manufacturing innovation.
• Deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective tooling and equipment solutions.
• Support launch of manufacturing fixtures, automation, and production equipment.
• Reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Produce CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and validation records.
• Aim for improvements in OEE, cycle time, quality, and operator safety.

In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automated systems.

This role leads equipment and tooling projects supporting production, new product launches, capacity growth, safety improvements, and manufacturing innovation.

Requirements

• 2–5+ years designing tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing equipment Experience supporting high-volume production environments
• Experience with CAD design and equipment troubleshooting
• Preferred: automation, robotics, vision systems, automotive manufacturing
• Hands-on shop floor experience troubleshooting processes
• Exposure to:
• Root cause problem solving (8D, 5 Why)
• SPC and process capability analysis
• Lean / continuous improvement initiatives

Preferred

• Experience with automated assembly equipment
• SOLIDWORKS/PDM experience
