Job summary

Sedgman USA operates in the mineral processing sector and is recruiting a Mechanical Designer to join its Phoenix, AZ team. You will handle detailed design from concept to final drawings, focusing on mechanical systems within multi-disciplinary projects.

Responsibilities include creating 3D designs, reviewing designs, complying with change management, and ensuring quality against client specifications. 5+ years in mining or heavy industry design is preferred, with AutoCAD Plant 3D proficiency.

Qualifications

• Associate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 year’s industry experience in a design/consultancy environment, preferably supporting mining, minerals processing, or heavy industries.
• Experience with projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D modelling programs, such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Vault and Plant3D.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Previous MS Office skills

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed design from sketches or specification outlines on mechanical, process, electrical, structural, hydraulics or civil fields under direction of engineers or a supervising design drafter.
• Create 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts.
• Participate in the review of designs and advise on drafting difficulties or compliance requirements as appropriate.
• Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design.
• Prepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services or other facilities or structures.
• Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system.
• Ensure engineering designs follow the Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures
• Provide drafting support to project teams whilst maximizing utilisation.
• Focus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality and client satisfaction
• Check drafting deliverables for accuracy and adherence to design specifications & intent.
• Apply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards and client requirements
