Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Armament Systems in Plymouth, MN seeks a Mechanical Designer III to craft components and refine existing designs using Creo/Pro/E. You’ll gather data, perform analyses, and prepare 3D models and drawings to support manufacturing.

• Ability to model fully defined components and assemblies using Pro/E / Creo 10.0.
• Ability to create/update parametric drawings in conformance with standards.
• Microsoft Office experience and US citizenship with ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Accept work direction from other drafters/designers, engineers and manager on assigned project.
• Mechanical modeling utilizing Pro/E / Creo10.0 and create/update parametric drawings.
• Review work to ensure accuracy and conformance with standards.

Northrop Grumman’s Business Unit , Armament Systems, is seeking a Mechanical Designer III for our location in Plymouth, MN .

Armament Systems specializes in the development and production of Ammunition, Guns and Precision Guidance Ordinance.

Position Summary: Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or Creo. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Mechanical CAD Responsibilities:

• Accept work direction from other drafters/ designers, engineers and manager on assigned project.
• Mechanical modeling utilizing Pro/E / Creo10.0
• Create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
• Review work to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Required Skills:

• Technical or Associate's Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design.
• Four years minimum Pro/E / Creo experience with a minimum of 1 year utilizing Pro/E / Creo 10.0
• Ability to model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Pro/E / Creo 10.0
• Ability to create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Must be a US Citizen
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred Skills:

• Possess an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Understanding of Teamcenter PLM toolsets.
• Exposure to production/factory floor environment
• Exposure to or interest in ammunition, reloading, or shooting sports.

Primary Level Salary Range:

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,300.00 - $115,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
