Job summary

Northrop Grumman Armament Systems is seeking a Mechanical Designer II to model components and assemblies using Creo 10.0, and prepare 3D models and drawings.

You will work with engineers, program managers, and administrative personnel to ensure designs meet manufacturing criteria, while collaborating across departments. A technical degree and Creo experience are required; US citizenship and ability to obtain a secret clearance are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design.
• Minimum 2 years Pro/E / Creo experience, including Creo 10.0.
• Ability to model defined components and assemblies with Creo 10.0.
• Ability to create/update parametric drawings per standards.
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Position Summary

Armament Systems specializes in the development and production of Ammunition, Guns and Precision Guidance Ordinance. Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or Creo. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Mechanical CAD Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Designer II your responsibilities will be to model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Pro/E / Creo 10.0, and create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards. You will work with other engineers, technicians, program managers and administrative personnel to accomplish assigned tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Accept work direction from other drafters/designers, engineers and manager on assigned project.
• Mechanical modeling utilizing Pro/E / Creo10.0 Create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
• Review work to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Required Skills

• Technical or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Drafting/Design.
• Two years minimum Pro/E / Creo experience with a minimum of 1 year utilizing Pro/E / Creo 10.0
• Ability to model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Pro/E / Creo 10.0
• Ability to create/update parametric drawings in conformance with Northrop Grumman, Industry and DEVCOM Armaments Center 3D modeling standards.
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Must be a US Citizen
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred Skills

• Possess an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Understanding of Teamcenter PLM toolsets.
• Exposure to production/factory floor environment
• Exposure to or interest in ammunition, reloading, or shooting sports.

Primary Level Salary Range

$58,300.00 - $97,100.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
