Job summary

Robinson, Inc. is seeking a Designer in the Engineering & Design team on-site in Wisconsin. Develop design layouts and 3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, ensuring manufacturability and customer specifications.

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production to deliver production-ready designs. Requires an Associate’s degree in mechanical design or 3+ years in a design role; proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D; SolidWorks preferred; strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving;

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in mechanical design or 3+ years in a design role.
• Proficient in mechanical design, sheet metal, and structural steel fabrication.
• Skilled in AutoCAD 2D/3D; SolidWorks experience preferred, PDM a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, with excellent time management and decision-making.
• Effective team player, communicates well, and handles pressure/feedback.
• Multitasks, prioritizes, and manages multiple projects efficiently.
• Eager to learn and follow departmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop design layouts based on customer specifications, using both standard and custom design approaches.
• Create complete and accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Prepare engineering documentation and models for order release to manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot mechanical assemblies and provide technical support internally and to customers.
• Layout customer drawings for processing on lasers, punch and press breaks.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering staff to ensure all customer requirements are met.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Office, and Outlook proficiently for documentation, communication, and data analysis.
• Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the standard parts library.
• Identify and propose process improvements to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members as needed.
