Job summary

ABB is seeking an onsite Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to create and release custom electric motor designs, maintain BOMs and documentation, and collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to meet customer and production goals.

You will apply GD&T and complex part modeling skills, use SAP for documentation, and drive continuous improvement across cross-functional teams within ABB's NEMA Motors division.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years relevant engineering experience with a degree, or 4 years with HS.
  • Candidates must have US work authorization for ABB.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and update engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and documentation for custom motor orders.
  • Implement design modifications and technical solutions to meet customer, quality, and manufacturing requirements.

Your role and responsibilities:

Creates, modifies, and releases custom electric motor designs and associated engineering documentation for customer orders. Develops and updates manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly specifications for low to medium complexity applications using established engineering practices and standard product platforms. Collaborates with manufacturing, sales, and cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements, product performance, quality, and production objectives are met.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Create, maintain, and update engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), specifications, and technical documentation for custom motor orders, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and manufacturability.
  • Support custom order execution by implementing design modifications, product configurations, engineering changes, and technical solutions that meet customer, quality, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to provide technical documentation, resolve product and material issues, and support successful project delivery.
  • Utilize engineering tools, processes, and SAP systems to manage documentation, drive continuous improvement, identify and elevate technical risks, and ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering - Preferred) OR Associate's Degree (Mechanical Design/Drafting - Preferred) with minimum 2 years relevant experience OR High School Diploma with minimum 4 years relevant experience.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
Preferred Experience Includes:
  • Expertise in complex part and assembly modeling for production- ready designs.
  • Strong command of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, and a variety of manufacturing processes such as die casting, machining, stamping, plastic molding, and fabrication.
  • Proven ability to create accurate production documentation, including detailed drawings, BOMs, and engineering records, while supporting design changes and revisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for engineering analysis, data reporting, and technical presentations.
  • SolidWorks PDM (Product Data Management), SolidWorks Design Professional Certification (CSWP), FEA or simulation tools, SAP or PLM systems, and design support for electromechanical or industrial products. PMP Certification, Lean Six Sigma Certification, Working knowledge of UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA regulatory compliance.
