Job summary

Valeo in the United States is seeking a Mechanical Development engineer to execute 3D parametric models, produce 2D drawings, and define part designs and sizing for automotive components.

You will apply plastic molding guidelines, coordinate tooling feasibility, perform clearance checks, and lead simulations (FEA) and tolerance analysis, while ensuring release readiness and PLM/BOM accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; experience considered in lieu of education.
• CATIA design experience preferred; other design software considered.

Responsibilities

• Execute 3D parametric models, modifications, packaging studies, and 2D production drawings.
• Define overall part design, mechanical concepts, and primary component sizing.
• Apply plastic molding and Valeo design rules (draft angles, wall thickness, parting lines).
• Negotiate tooling feasibility with tooling engineers and suppliers; promote standardizations.
• Run clearance/interference checks and standard section cuts.
• Own structural/thermal simulations (FEA), worst-case tolerance stacks, and design sign-offs.
• Manage file check-in/check-out, PDM/PLM lifecycle states, and BOM accuracy.
• Validate release readiness, baseline milestones, and customer ECRs.
