Job summary

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company (EBAD) is seeking a senior Mechanical Design Engineering Manager in Simsbury, CT. This leadership role drives the mechanical design capability across product development, enclosure, tooling, packaging, and rapid prototyping with a focus on reliability and manufacturability.

You will recruit, develop, and lead teams across two sites, establish standards, and ensure production‑ready designs while balancing cost and risk.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering and product‑development experience in aerospace/defense or similar domains.
• Proven people leadership with clear expectations, candid feedback, accountability, and succession planning.
• Strong mechanical design experience across lifecycle from concept to production, including DfX.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Mechanical Design Organization with coaching, performance plans, and accountability.
• Integrate Simsbury and Moorpark teams under a common operating model for product, enclosure, tooling, packaging, and rapid prototyping.
• Establish standards, design reviews, and release‑readiness practices to improve quality, speed, and predictability across sites.
