Job summary

SICK, Inc. is offering a six-month internship on our Minneapolis campus, requiring about 20 hours per week on-site. You will join a team to study engineering sketches, spec sheets, and supporting documents, while contributing to design and documentation tasks under a mentor.

You will gain hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, and systems projects and deliver a final project presentation. Eligible students must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program, be fluent in English,

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program studying Engineering.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical designer software like Solidworks.
• Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
• Professional written and spoken fluency in English.
• Schedule: Generally 20 hours a week, Monday - Friday.
• Be able to usually work in an office environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the department by studying engineering sketches, specifications, and supporting documents.
• Design, detail, document, and verify mechanical/electrical/electronic parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurations of equipment.
• Drawing multiple views, depicting relationship of components and parts including identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerance, and materials.
• Work on a chosen project with the assistance of the manager, mentor, and team.
• Work closely with the manager and a selected mentor to understand systems, processes, and key information.
• Interface with other departments and interns to gain knowledge of the business, products, positions and more.
• Provide innovative recommendations on how SICK can improve.
• Complete a final presentation at the close of the internship that outlines the involved project(s) and knowledge gained.
• Provide feedback on the internship experience at the close of the internship.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned or required by management.
