Job summary

Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc. is seeking a mechanical drafting-oriented individual for transformer drawings on a large manufacturing campus. You will work with engineering and operations teams to produce accurate 3D CAD drawings and accompanying documentation.

The role emphasizes problem solving, attention to drafting standards, and the ability to collaborate across departments. A related Associate’s Degree or pursuing one is preferred, with on-site work in Wisconsin.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field.
• Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problem.
• Knowledge of 3D software and drafting procedures; strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Completing transformer mechanical drawings based on internal/external layouts and standard practices.
• Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per procedures; verifying and updating drawings.
• Providing technical support and training to others.
• Assisting supervisor in planning and scheduling design/detailing processes.
• Assisting on development projects and completing standard processes or programs as needed.
• Recommending and developing new procedures to improve detailing efficiency.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completing transformer mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories.
• Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist. Verifying and updating drawings.
• Providing technical support and training of others.
• Assisting the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design and detailing processes.
• Assisting on development projects as requested by supervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes or practices and computer programs.
• Recommending and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of the detailing process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Knowledge of 3D software
• Excellent process and problem solving skills
• An understanding of drafting procedures
• An excellent team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
• Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
• Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ProE

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

• Currently pursuing Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field
• Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problem.

Key Working Relationships

• Engineering Organization, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and applications engineering groups
• Operations Management, including plant Supervision, Quality, Planning, etc.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
