Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc. is seeking a drafting/design professional pursuing an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field to join our engineering team on site.

You will create transformer mechanical drawings and support planning, with guidance as needed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes problem solving, drafting procedures, and collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing groups.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field.
  • Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problem.

Responsibilities

  • Completing transformer mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories.
  • Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist. Verifying and updating drawings.
  • Providing technical support and training of others.
  • Assisting the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design and detailing processes.
  • Assisting on development projects as requested by supervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes or practices and computer programs.
  • Recommending and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of the detailing process.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completing transformer mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories.

  • Knowledge of 3D software
  • Excellent process and problem solving skills
  • An understanding of drafting procedures
  • An excellent team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
  • Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ProE
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
  • Currently pursuing Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field
  • Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problem.
Key Working Relationships
  • Engineering Organization, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and applications engineering groups
  • Operations Management, including plant Supervision, Quality, Planning, etc.
Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Shop-floor and office environment, located on large manufacturing campus
