The Toro Company is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern in Bloomington, MN for the 2027 summer program. You will use Creo Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill to develop concepts, create drawings, and support product teams across global markets.

You will work on design feasibility, documentation, testing plans, and materials selection while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

We market and sell TTC products worldwide through a network of distributors, dealers, mass retailers, hardware retailers, equipment rental center and home centers—as well as online direct to end users.**What Will You Do?**In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:* Conceptualize and design products that met the requirements of customers and the business.* Utilize 3D CAD (Creo) software and other tools to do product-related work.* Use engineering principles as well as analytical techniques to ensure that the design specifications of the product will meet the approved specifications, including cost, timing, and performance objectives of the product.* Work on projects with internal cross-functional teams supporting, domestic and international markets.* Prepare technical documentation in the form of layouts, drawings, assembly instructions and analysis reports for assigned tasks.* Research and propose materials and processes to be used in designs.* Develop testing plans for analyzing and validating designs.* Ensure designs meet the durability, performance, manufacturability, and quality criteria of the company plus Toro and industry safety standards.* Analyzes proposed engineering designs using calculations, testing, computer simulation and analysis methods or other techniques as needed.* Work with Legal on potential patent activities and liability avoidance.* Ideate new potential designs using feasibility studies to reveal product requirements.* Perform continuous improvement activities and run Engineering Change Management tasks to improve design quality, price, manufacturability, or supply chain.* Develop and execute product releases.* Draft BOM, assembly drawings, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).* Work with assembly plants and vendors to maintain production.* Perform other duties as assigned.## **What Do You Need?**To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:* Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering related technology (ex. Mechanical, Agricultural, Automotive, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Design.) * Experience with mechanical drafting and design.* Proficient with design software such as CREO ProE, Windchill, CREO mechanism, Creo Simulation, or equivalent FEA and CFD software.* Experience with advanced battery technologies, smart connected products, robotics, automation, control systems, electric power systems, electric motors and related regulatory/safety conformance is highly preferred.* Exposure to manufacturing process: injection molding, 3D printing, metal fabrication, welding, forming/stamping, machining, casting.* Ability to transfer skills and knowledge from past experience and related technologies to new situations.* Ability to design, document, draft, and evaluate products able to meet customer needs.* Technical ability in mathematical analysis of physical systems and mechanics.* Demonstrated ability to independently accomplish duties and responsibilities as listed.* Able to assist in drafting test protocols and communicate them to test engineering.* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business levels and departments, where flexibility, adaptability, and resiliency are important.* Ability to work in a dynamic environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.* Proven relationship building skills, ability to gain and build support for design initiatives.* Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office applications required, SAP or other ERP systems experience preferred.**What Can We Give You?**At The Toro Company, we are always working to make sure our interns know just how valued they are.
