Job summary

The Toro Company in Bloomington, MN is offering a 2027 Electrical Systems Engineering Intern role. You will work with Toro’s engineering team on golf, sports fields and siteworks lines, gaining hands-on experience with motors, controllers, batteries, switches and sensors under supervision.

Candidates must be pursuing ABET-accredited electrical, electronic, or computer engineering, entering junior or senior year, with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing ABET-accredited electrical/electronic/computer engineering degree.
  • Entering junior or senior year strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word; basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to read electrical schematics.
  • Experience interfacing with CANbus protocols preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate electrical components and perform basic integration tests.
  • Create and modify prototype electrical harnesses.
  • Work with CANbus data to diagnose issues and evaluate performance.
  • Read and interpret machine electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose issues and evaluate designs.

We market and sell TTC products worldwide through a network of distributors, dealers, mass retailers, hardware retailers, equipment rental center and home centers—as well as online direct to end users.## **What Will You Do?**This is an exciting opportunity working with an experienced engineering team on Toro’s golf, sports fields, and siteworks systems product lines. The position offers real world work experience and an opportunity to develop skills while working under the supervision of an electrical engineer. There will be opportunity for hands-on experience across several areas of the machine electrical system - such as motors, controllers, batteries, switches, and sensors.The intern will work on individual project(s). This position typically encompasses a large variation in the type of work performed from writing specifications and performing studies, testing and validation of electrical components and software, continuous improvement of existing products, component failure diagnostics and troubleshooting, among other responsibilities.Other summer activities could include job shadowing, a vendor visit or trip to a Toro manufacturing plant, making harnesses with an electrical designer, and planned executive talks with senior leadership.Duties and Responsibilities may include:* Evaluate electrical components. Create and perform basic integration tests in a lab environment.* Create and modify prototype electrical harnesses.* Work with CANbus data to diagnose issues or evaluate machine performance.* Read and interpret machine electrical schematics to assist in troubleshooting or machine evaluation.* Work cross functionally to diagnose machine issues or evaluate designs.* Work with component vendors to evaluate application fit and verify component specifications.## **What Do You Need?**To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:* Majoring in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering from an ABET accredited university. Other engineering disciplines may be considered on a case-by-case basis.* In good academic standing. Entering Junior or Senior year strongly preferred.* The interested candidate should be hard working, energetic, and have a desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in team environments.* Shall be organized, and be proficient in basic Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
