Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer in the United States to drive cross-functional design integration and apply mechanical design principles across New Engine Installation (NEI) programs.

You will lead root-cause analysis, document outcomes, and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and technicians, using CAD/CAE tools such as CREO and ANSYS Workbench to evaluate, refine, and validate designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience with product design for engine installations and systems is preferred.
• Proven ability to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and design specifications.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools and design reviews is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead investigation and resolution of design issues for NEI programs and field applications.
• Support engineering processes, design reviews, and quality-focused checklists to enable sound decisions.
• Develop and validate components and subsystems using CREO, ANSYS Workbench and other tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create Design Review packages and communicate design intent.
• Contribute to CEAF, NEI, and ECR initiatives by assessing concepts and supporting optimization.
