Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to impact off-highway industrial Power Unit and OEM custom design engineering.

You will develop and maintain CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, coordinating with Application Engineering to understand customer requirements and ensure packaging, cooling, serviceability, and safety considerations are met. You will participate in design reviews and engineering changes, support prototype builds and validation, and collaborate with manufacturing, quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience with engineering processes and cross-functional collaboration is preferred.
• Knowledge of CREO tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the investigation and resolution of product and design-related issues for NEI programs and field applications, identifying root causes, recommending solutions, and documenting outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
• Support the execution of engineering and product development processes, including Critical Design Decisions and Design Reviews, to enable sound design decisions.
• Utilize engineering tools and methods such as iDFMEA, DVA, GD&T, CREO, and ANSYS Workbench to evaluate, refine, and validate designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop Design Review packages that communicate design intent and support decisions.
• Contribute to CEAF, NEI, and ECR initiatives by assessing design concepts and supporting concept selection, optimization, and specs development.
• Own the resolution of moderately complex technical challenges balancing performance, quality, reliability, and customer requirements.
• Execute established engineering processes and improve workflows and design practices.
• Coordinate with technicians and temporary team members to support project outcomes.
