Job summary

SUSS MicroTec Inc. in Vermont—Williston is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop design concepts, CAD models, and detailed drawings for precision semiconductor equipment. You will ensure dimensioning accuracy, tolerances, thermal and vibration performance, and manufacturability.

The role requires GD&T expertise, SolidWorks proficiency, and experience with ERP/PLM systems such as SAP and ECTR, along with participation in design reviews and risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant technical degree).
• Three or more years of design engineering of precision machinery, preferably in the semiconductor equipment industry.
• Fundamental knowledge of electro‑mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and finishes.
• Thorough knowledge of geometric tolerancing (GD&T) and ISO standards.
• Proficient in the use of SolidWorks 3D CAD system.
• Experience with ERP and PLM systems for document, material, BOM and revisions - preferably SAP and ECTR.
• Knowledge of SemiSpec standards a plus.

Responsibilities

• Generate design concepts, detailed and assembly drawings.
• Calculate appropriate dimensions and tolerances.
• Ensure designs meet requirements for precision, stability, thermal control, and vibration performance.
• Review and modify designs for efficient manufacturability.
• CAD & BOM creation and maintenance with SolidWorks, SAP, ECTR.
• Work within the requirements of internal product development processes.
• Ensure compliance with SEMI, ISO and internal quality requirements; participate in design reviews and FMEA.
