Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Peoria, IL for a contract position onsite. You will design machine systems, build assemblies, and generate documentation using 3D CAD tools.

The role collaborates with manufacturing and suppliers and supports QA, with travel required for surveys and problem solving. The ideal candidate holds a BS in engineering or equivalent, with strong GD&T, ISO/SAE knowledge, and experience in Creo/Windchill.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or equivalent with relevant design experience.
• Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and ergonomics.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and drafting standards (GD&T).
• Experience with Creo and Windchill is a plus.
• Familiar with GDMS, SAP, and ISO/SAE standards.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine systems and components per specs.
• Create detailed drawings and assemblies using 3D CAD.
• Prepare technical documentation like manuals and service news.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers on specs.
• Conduct design reviews to meet cost and delivery targets.
• Apply continuous improvement to reduce costs and lead times.
• Support production, service, and QA with root-cause analyses.
• Travel domestically and internationally for surveys and issues.
• Assist in systems design and project management as needed.
• Contribute to new product development initiatives.
