Job summary

Rheo Engineering seeks a Design Engineer Intern to join our Application Engineering team in Peoria, IL, for Summer 2027. You will work on live customer projects from concept through hand-off to Manufacturing, with real ownership and visible impact.

You will develop machine concepts, research technologies, and assemble design drawings while collaborating on live projects that move from CAD to shop floor.

Qualifications

• On track to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or higher.
• 2+ years of CAD experience — classroom or independent counts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop machine and system concepts with the product design team.
• Research new technologies, industry processes, and relevant compliance guidelines.
• Conduct design feasibility reviews.
• Assemble system design drawings for production.
• Utilize calculations to determine static and dynamic forces.
• Create project hand-off documents for Manufacturing.
• Draft and assemble project documentation packages.
