Job summary

Lexair, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our dynamic engineering team in Lexington, KY. You will design, test, and optimize pneumatic and hydraulic products, develop valves with SolidWorks, and contribute to project documentation and quality improvements.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors, you will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting and support product development from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (process) or related field.
• Interest in pursuing a career in machining, engineering or manufacturing.
• Basic understanding of mechanical tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and enhance pneumatic and hydraulic products and processes to meet project objectives and specifications.
• Develop custom valves utilizing SolidWorks from concept to production.
• Conduct analyses and simulations to evaluate performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, customers, and in-house staff to meet objectives within budget and timeline.
• Perform quality control tests and inspections to ensure products meet industry standards and customer requirements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and manuals.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement design/process optimizations.
• Manage multiple projects focusing on cost-effective product modifications to enhance safety, reliability, and performance.
• Other duties as assigned by the company.
