Job summary

MPI is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to conceptualize, design, detail, and document mechanical assemblies and automated equipment for production environments. You will collaborate with internal teams and sometimes interface with customers to translate requirements into cost-efficient engineering solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 years in automation equipment design, with SolidWorks proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3-5 years designing industrial automation equipment or mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for automated systems and integrated work cells.
• Engineer mechanical components, subassemblies, and custom modifications to industrial automation equipment.
• Design pneumatic systems and specify related components.
• Select appropriate sensors and electrical components to support system functionality.
• Perform engineering analyses and calculations to validate structural integrity, performance, and manufacturability.
• Produce accurate, timely designs using 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and technical documentation tools.
• Prepare technical content for customer proposals and project deliverables.
• Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Manage multiple active design projects while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies relevant to automation equipment and mechanical design.
• Represent the engineering team with professionalism and a customer‑focused mindset.
• Perform additional engineering support tasks as needed.
