Job summary

Starfish Partners in Michigan is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own complex designs from concept through manufacturing release. This role requires 3+ years in industrial automation or custom machinery, strong 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, drawings and BOMs, and collaboration with manufacturing, project management and procurement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial automation or custom machinery.
• Strong 3D CAD design and GD&T, with good knowledge of drawings and BOMs.
• Experience taking projects from concept through manufacturing release.
• Collaboration with manufacturing, project management, procurement and customer teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Comfortable with design reviews, troubleshooting, commissioning and installation.

Mechanical Design Engineer | Custom Automation / Machinery

I'm partnering with a growing industrial organization that is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to its engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of complex mechanical designs - from the initial concept and layout through detailed design, manufacturing, installation, and final customer acceptance.

What we're looking for:

• 3+ years of mechanical design experience within industrial automation, custom machinery, material handling, or machine systems
• Strong 3D CAD / solid modeling experience - SolidWorks experience is highly preferred
• Ability to take projects from concept through manufacturing release
• Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes
• Experience working closely with manufacturing, project management, procurement, and customer-facing teams
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
• Comfortable participating in design reviews, troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting equipment through installation
