Job summary

RISINGSUN TECHNOLOGIES is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer III to develop hardware designs and documentation for nuclear components. The role supports FOAK hardware designs with emphasis on ASME-compliant documentation, 3D and 2D modeling, and fabrication support.

The position is remote with a 40-hour work week and an estimated contract length of about 12 months (possible extension). The compensation is a bill rate of $56 per hour, with standard engineering project communication

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience supporting fabrication.
• Strong technical writing and engineering documentation skills.
• Experience developing and implementing FOAK hardware designs and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, modify, and update 3D models and 2D engineering drawings.
• Perform engineering analysis and create specifications supporting hardware development.
• Collaborate with tooling and analysis teams to meet nuclear quality and safety standards.
• Communicate design challenges, schedules, and progress to field deployment, engineering, and project management teams.
• Present designs during peer and leadership reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Develop technical documentation throughout design, procurement, and fabrication.
• Document and verify final designs against application requirements and applicable nuclear and ASME codes and standards.
• Provide fabrication support throughout hardware development.

Hours: 40 hours/week
