Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Milwaukee is seeking a qualified engineer to lead, evaluate, and design projects. You will perform complex calculations, direct less-experienced engineers, and provide technical guidance, making this an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for engineering. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, a PE License, and a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE License required.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex calculations, drawings related to HVAC, plumbing, and other systems.
• Direct the workflow of less-experienced engineers on assigned projects.
• Determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems.
• Writes technical narratives in response to RFIs.

Skills

Strong knowledge of applicable systems design

Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products

Education

POSITION SUMMARY

Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on projects ranging from new design/build to rehabilitation of existing facilities and systems. Provide ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution as needed.

What you’ll do

• Performs complex calculations, drawings and specifications related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection or other systems
• Performs complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, hydraulic calculations, etc.
• Develops standards, methods, processes and procedures for reviewing, evaluating and inspecting designs.
• Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and identify the most efficient and acceptable solution.
• Directs the workflow of less-experienced engineers on assigned projects. Mentors and provides guidance on design and technical issues.
• Writes technical narratives in response to RFIs.

What you bring to the table

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• PE License required
• Minimum 5 years of experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of applicable systems design, such as fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc., as well as general understanding of system operations.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, including Excel
