Honeywell Aerospace in Aguadilla, PR is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II in the Mechanical Systems group to design and analyze bearings, gears, splines, seals, and lubrication systems for propulsion engines and gearboxes. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work onsite with travel up to 15%.

You will use state-of-the-art software, perform test rig design and data analysis, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with global teams including Phoenix Engines site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics)
• 1+ years of FEA experience with ANSYS or similar
• 1+ years of experience with mechanical systems (Bearings, Gears & splines, Air & oil seals, Lubrication systems)
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

Job Description

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II - Mechanical Systems (Bearings, Gears, Seals, Lubrication Systems) here at Honeywell Aerospace, in the Mechanical Systems group, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of bearings, gears and splines, seals, and lubrications systems for propulsion engines, auxiliary power units and engine gearboxes.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II - Mechanical Systems (Bearings, Gears, Seals, Lubrication Systems) here at Honeywell Aerospace, in the Mechanical Systems group, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of bearings, gears and splines, seals, and lubrications systems for propulsion engines, auxiliary power units and engine gearboxes. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and work out of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico location. External hires will work the first 90 days onsite before transitioning to a 3/2 hybrid schedule.

Travel, up to 15%, may be expected.

• Use of the appropriate documentation practice to meet program deliverables and requirements
• Work effectively with design teams, global support and chief engineers
• Collaborate closely with our Mechanical Systems at the Phoenix Engines site

Qualifications

You Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 1+ years of FEA experience with ANSYS or similar.
• 1+ years of experience with mechanical systems (Bearings, Gears & splines, Air & oil seals, Lubrication systems, etc.)
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

We Value

• Understanding and application of disciplines in high-speed machinery for one or more of these areas: Bearings, Gears & splines, Air & oil seals Lubrication systems and high-speed rotating machinery
• Familiarity with mechanical systems in gas turbine engines
• Experience using advanced numerical simulation codes (for example ANSYS, Romax, etc.)
• 3D modeling (CAD) and FEA (ANSYS, etc.) of gas turbine engine or similar mechanical systems
• Proven understanding and application of solid mechanics, dynamics, fatigue, and finite element analysis
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required to interact with engineering teams, other disciplines, and the customer
• Ability to juggle priorities and competing demands easily and effectively
• Passion for solving challenging problems
• Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and application is a plus
