Job summary
TAIT in Lititz, PA seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer II to design specialized machinery, structures, and rigging for live entertainment projects from concept through opening night. You will own subsections of projects, collaborate across project management, fabrication, procurement, and field teams, and apply TAIT design standards to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions on schedule and within budget.

Qualifications
- BA/BS/BFA in technical theater, engineering, architecture, industrial design or related field with 4+ years experience OR 7+ years design experience in live entertainment tech
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling
- Experience with custom overhead rigging, machinery, structural, or scenic/facade design
- Working knowledge of live entertainment technology preferred
- Experience in short-term, project-based environments
- Able to be based in Lititz, PA TAIT headquarters
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project teams to develop innovative technical solutions that meet objectives and exceed client expectations
- Plan and execute work within scope, schedule, and budget
- Apply TAIT design best practices for fit/finish, manufacturability, and on-site assembly
- Identify and understand underlying physics of complex problems to craft solutions
- Produce client-facing drawing packages and participate in client meetings
- Create robust 3D models and supporting drawings using TAIT tools
- Maintain project documentation and release drawings for internal and vendor manufacturing
