Job summary

3MD Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to perform design, modeling, and analysis of mechanical systems, assemblies, and automated equipment in industrial environments.

You will lead small to mid-sized design projects, troubleshoot complex issues, update documentation, and support fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities. Proficiency in 3D CAD and drawing creation, BOM development, and tolerance analysis is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation.
• Ability to design and modify mechanical components, assemblies, and layouts.
• Experience with conveyors, pneumatics, or automation equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM tools is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Effective communication with operations and engineering teams.
• Ability to manage small to mid-sized mechanical work packages with limited supervision.
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Independently design mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, and equipment for small to mid-sized projects
• Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of material in accordance with company standards
• Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical failures or performance issues
• Support fabrication, assembly, FAT/SAT, and field integration of new or upgraded equipment
• Perform tolerance analysis, component sizing, and material selection
• Assist in defining project mechanical requirements, timelines, and technical scope
• Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Engineers and Technicians
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, mechanical codes, and engineering best practices
