Job summary

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to own subsystems within the hydrogen management system of our iron‑air battery technology. You will design, prototype, test, and validate components across the hydrogen system, collaborating with chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineers to ensure safety, performance, and manufacturability.

You will work with senior engineers to drive designs from concept through production ramp, applying first-principles thinking and cost-conscious

Qualifications

• Strong ability to model from first principles and optimize for manufacturability and cost.
• Experience designing mechanical equipment, including gas/liquid handling systems.
• Experience working in manufacturing environments or with contract manufacturers.
• Product development experience from early-stage to production ramp, with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and test components within the hydrogen management system to meet performance targets.
• Collaborate with analysts to base design decisions on first principles.
• Lead design reviews, prototype fabrication, and testing to validate system concepts.
• Coordinate with manufacturing engineers to transition designs from prototype to high-volume production.
• Work with Battery Cell and Systems teams on auxiliary systems development.
• Learn and apply Form Energy's product design best practices and safety standards.
• Engage with suppliers and vendors to source parts and support manufacturing readiness.
