Job summary

QuantumScape in CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer, Member of Technical Staff, to design and develop process equipment for scalable production. The role focuses on hands-on hardware design, prototyping, testing, and documentation through the full design cycle.

You will lead complex mechanical projects, work with cross-functional teams, and become the technical expert on high-temperature equipment, automation components, actuators, and sensors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering with required experience.
• Experience with CAD tools (Inventor) and PDM/PLM systems.
• Experience with supplier management and collaborating with remote teams.
• Strong written and spoken communication; ability to work under tight schedules.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems and equipment for scalable production.
• Lead and execute projects; develop test plans and DoEs.
• Prototype, assemble, and test hardware; verify designs.
• Interface with engineers and scientists; document test reports.
• Support installation of prototypes into production equipment.
