Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. in Horsham, PA, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of complex wafer processing equipment with a focus on wet processing chambers.

You will work within the ETO team, coordinating with engineering leadership and manufacturing to deliver robust, serviceable equipment. Requirements include a BS (or MS) in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years (3+ years for MS) of capital equipment experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks/AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in capital equipment design or fabrication.
• MS preferred, 3+ years experience.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; CAD 2D/3D.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure new wet processing chambers for ETO tools.
• Develop subassemblies and components for aggressive wet processing environments.
• Provide mechanical engineering expertise, focusing on design quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Perform analytical studies including vessels, heat transfer, structural and thermal analysis.
• Define mechanical design specifications based on customer requirements and company capabilities.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety codes; ensure tests for reliable products.
• Prepare presentations and present design concepts and test results to internal/external customers.
• Support procurement and manufacturing teams.
• Travel up to 10% to customer sites or supplier facilities.
