Job summary

Nbutexas is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Dayton, OH to design custom industrial furnaces from concept to production. You will create 2D/3D CAD models using SolidWorks and perform structural, thermal, and stress calculations.

Travel to customer sites is possible, and safety standards compliance is required. The role requires 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in industrial equipment, a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and strong problem-solving and communication

Qualifications

Responsibilities

A leading designer and manufacturer of custom industrial furnace systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Dayton, OH. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys designing custom, low-volume, high-performance equipment in a collaborative and hands‑on environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Design custom industrial furnaces and related systems from concept to production
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawing packages using SolidWorks
  • Perform mechanical calculations for structural strength, thermal expansion, and stress analysis
  • Support fabrication and assembly teams by producing clear, complete technical documentation
  • Participate in customer meetings and provide design recommendations
  • Troubleshoot design issues and support field installations
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes and industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ISO, CE)

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3–5 years of mechanical design experience (preferably in industrial equipment or low-volume manufacturing)
  • SolidWorks proficiency (required)
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems: pumps, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics, and structural supports
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally travel to customer sites
Bonus Points For
  • Experience designing high-temperature or combustion‑related equipment
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, KISSsoft, or similar simulation tools
  • Background in industrial automation or robotics integration
  • Experience working in a job shop or custom equipment environment
