Job summary

Selectek in Dayton, OH is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design custom automation and robotic systems from concept through manufacturing. You will create detailed machine designs, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, BOMs, and provide hands-on support during assembly and startup.

The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of related experience, an Associate’s degree, and proficiency with SolidEdge or SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and 3D design project management.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in mechanical design or automation

• Willing to travel up to 10% across North America
• Strong knowledge of pneumatics systems
• Strong understanding of safety requirements and design practices
• Experience designing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems

Job description

Immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer in Dayton, OH. A Mechanical Engineer with experience designing custom automation and robotic systems from concept through manufacturing is required. The role involves creating detailed machine designs, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, BOMs, and providing hands‑on support during equipment assembly and startup. The ideal candidate has strong 3D CAD experience, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to manage projects while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Design equipment from concept to manufacturing detail prints
• Complete bill of materials and support purchasing activities
• Write equipment operations manuals
• Conduct and document risk assessment of equipment
• Other projects or duties as required
• Support machinists and assemblers

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a related field
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree
• Ability to travel throughout North America (less than 10%)
• Understanding of pneumatics systems
• Understanding of industry safety requirements and design practices
• Experience with design and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems
• Experience designing with SolidEdge or SolidWorks
• Experience with AutoCAD design (or similar 2D)
• Experience with 3D design Project Management

Salary: $70-$100K
