Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop custom machinery from concept to production. The role emphasizes manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effective solutions while collaborating with controls, manufacturing, and customers.

You will own the mechanical scope of projects, support shop activities, and contribute to ongoing R&D for large, complex machines in a team environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in machine tools or automation or related industry.
• Strong mechanical engineering and design skills for machine tools and custom machinery.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software for modeling mechanical components and assemblies.
• Experience with ERP systems to manage BOMs and engineering data.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom machinery, tooling, components, and assemblies from concept through production and installation.
• Create, update, and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and related documentation.
• Develop designs prioritizing manufacturability, reliability, safety, and cost.
• Own mechanical scope of projects and ensure deliverables meet schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, vendors, and customers.
