Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to own hardware designs from concept to production, leading requirement definition and solution evaluation. You will perform hand calculations, FEA, prototype testing, and integrate complex thermal, RF, PCBAs, and cabling within high-reliability products.

The role requires 2–4 years of mechanical experience, CAD proficiency, and the ability to fabricate and troubleshoot while collaborating with electrical and software teams.

Qualifications

• BSME, MS or PhD in a related engineering field.
• Experience in immersive technical projects (academic teams or professional).
• 2–4 years of mechanical experience in a professional setting.
• CAD skills and ability to produce high-quality drawings meeting standards.
• Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills and ability to root-cause/design/manufacture issues.
• Strong engineering first-principles knowledge.
• Experience integrating PCBAs and electronics into mechanical systems.
• Eligible to obtain/maintain US Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware design from initial requirements through handoff to high volume production.
• Lead efforts to define requirements, propose solutions, and evaluate mechanical systems.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA for design optimization.
• Build prototypes, run analyses, and execute hardware test plans.
• Work on designs with integrated thermal solutions, RF hardware, PCBAs, and cabling.
• Support customer-facing hardware demonstrations and capture requirements.
