Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a product development team, contributing from concept through production release. The role emphasizes CAD ownership, analysis, documentation management, and collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and operations.

A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and SolidWorks expertise are required. The position is a contract role based out of Old Saybrook, CT, with pay in the $35.00–$45.00/hr range.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical design engineering and product development.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Experience supporting product development from concept through release.
• Experience performing engineering calculations and design analysis.
• Familiarity with PDM systems and engineering documentation processes.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in product development activities from concept through production release.
• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design evaluations.
• Support design reviews and drawing review processes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, and operations teams.
• Manage engineering revisions and product release documentation.
• Utilize PDM systems to support documentation and release processes.
• Support prototype development, evaluation, and testing activities.
• Create production-ready drawings, models, and supporting documentation.
• Work with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and operations personnel.
• Assist with project execution within timelines and development objectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and workflows.
