Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering fundamentals, HVAC systems, and installation standards.
  • Knowledge of California and applicable local building codes is essential.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Carrier HAP, Trace 700 or Energy Pro, AutoCAD; Revit is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Technical ownership of the mechanical design from concept to permit issuance and construction documents.
  • Lead design execution by defining parameters, sizing equipment, and control strategies.
  • Design and troubleshoot air-side and water-side HVAC systems.
  • QA/QC to ensure designs meet standards and construction viability.
  • Provide field support during construction including submittals, RFIs, and site assessments.
  • Mentor junior engineers to improve project output and documentation quality.

Job Details

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Department as a hands-on, technical lead designer. In this role you will manage the mechanical design process from initial concept through to permit issuance and final construction documentation.

Salary: $55 - $75 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Technical Ownership: Manage the mechanical design process from the foundation of design through to permit issuance and final construction documentation.
  • Lead Design Execution: Establish design parameters, select systems, size equipment, and define control strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • System Design and Troubleshooting: Design and address challenges related to both air-side (VAV, DOAS, etc.) and water-side (hydronic systems, pumping, etc.) mechanical systems.
  • QA/QC Responsibility: Ensure quality assurance and control throughout the design process, verifying that all designs meet outlined standards and practical construction viability.
  • Field Integration: Provide support during construction with activities like submittal reviews, resolving RFIs, and participating in site assessments to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, guiding them in practical project work, code compliance, and enhancing overall document quality.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in the commercial construction sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. (Required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering fundamentals, HVAC systems, and installation standards.
  • Knowledge of California and applicable local building codes is essential.
  • Proficient in Carrier HAP, Trace 700, Energy Pro, or similar software.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience (preferred)
