Job summary

Alcon Industries in Cleveland, OH seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and support cast metal components from concept through production. You will create 2D drawings and 3D models, review specs, design tooling, and ensure manufacturability while meeting quality standards.

You will work with production, quality and sales to resolve technical issues, improve casting performance, reduce costs, and support new product development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong SolidWorks CAD skills.
• Experience with manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze specifications and drawings to generate models/drawings that satisfy requirements.
• Manage parts database and BOM on assembly drawings.
• Review design for manufacturability and cost considerations.
• Select materials for components and assemblies.
• Define and check fit, form, and function of parts.
• Perform mechanical design FEA calculations.
• Participate in process improvement projects.
• Revise existing mechanical drawings as needed.
• Use measuring tools for dimensional inspection and reverse engineering as required.
