Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to development and modification of product layouts, ensuring they meet production requirements. You will analyze designs for strength, noise, ergonomics, safety and quality and coordinate with suppliers to define specifications.

The role requires 1-3 years engineering design experience, Pro-E CAD proficiency, and strong communication. It is a fully onsite contract-to-hire in Streator, IL with travel to field and trade shows as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in engineering design.
• Experience with mobile equipment.
• Pro-E CAD proficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset.
• Bachelor's degree required (BSME or BSAE).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate layouts and design modifications for existing products with production information.
• Analyze designs for strength, noise, function, ergonomics, safety and quality.
• Coordinate with suppliers to develop specifications for products and components.
• Develop project plans with input from engineering, marketing and production teams.
• Collaborate with production, manufacturing engineering, lab supervision, marketing, service and engineering during project implementation.
• Prepare and review engineering change packages, including BOM investigations.
• Use CAD systems and office software per company standards.
• Participate in cost reduction efforts as needed.
• Evaluate product modifications for performance and user satisfaction; may involve field/trade show travel.
• Assist drafters and designers with engineering input.
