Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation in Streator, IL is seeking an engineer to coordinate the development of layouts and design modifications for production, using CAD and engineering tools to meet strength, safety, functionality and quality requirements. This position collaborates with engineering, marketing and manufacturing during implementation, reviews change packages, and supports cost-reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years experience in engineering design.
• CAD experience required (Pro-E preferred).
• Strong knowledge of design for strength, safety and quality aspects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development of layouts and design modifications for production use.
• Use engineering tools to analyze designs for performance, ergonomics, safety and quality.
• Communicate with suppliers to develop product specifications.
• Develop project plans with input from engineering, marketing and production.
• Collaborate with production, ME, lab, marketing, service and engineering during implementation.
• Prepare and review engineering change packages including BOM investigations.
• Use CAD and office software to company standards.
• Participate in cost reduction processes as needed.
• Evaluate product modifications for performance and user satisfaction; may require field/trade show travel.
• Assist drafters and designers with engineering input.
• Develop project plans with input from engineering, marketing and production.
