Job summary

IMEG in Pensacola, FL is seeking a Mechanical Project Designer to lead HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design on low to moderate complexity projects, and support larger initiatives with senior staff. You will analyze and implement mechanical systems, using BIM and standard software, while ensuring safe, compliant, and client-focused outcomes.

As a key member of the team, you will contribute to budgets and schedules, document decisions, and communicate effectively with clients.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• EIT certification preferred.
• 3+ years in building design consulting; 4 preferred.
• AS degree or BIM/engineering certificate.
• 7+ years in building design consulting or construction.
• Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection design.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Not eligible for sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Use engineering software to develop designs, specs, calculations.
• Collaborate with clients to understand project needs and communicate technical information.
• Support project execution through planning, budgeting, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Document design decisions, client instructions, percent complete, and fee expended.
• Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions with senior staff.
• Perform in-process reviews of designs, calculations, and specs and apply QA processes.
• Stay current on industry trends and best practices and contribute to innovation.
• Identify and mitigate safety risks in mechanical systems and prioritize safety.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
