Job summary

Talently is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop MEP systems for buildings in an on-site Atlanta setting. You will design mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems from concept through construction documents, collaborating with on-site engineers and construction teams to ensure code compliance and constructability.

Ideal candidates bring a four-year Mechanical Engineering degree, 5–7 years of design experience, and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Typically 5–7 years of related design engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD or comparable design software.
• Experience designing mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for building projects.
• Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes, ASHRAE and NFPA standards.
• Ability to prepare and review construction documents, equipment selections, and design calculations.
• Professional Engineer (PE) credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop scopes of work, design criteria, and equipment selections during preliminary design.
• Prepare specifications, working drawings, instructions, and related construction documents.
• Select materials, equipment, and systems based on constructability, project value, standards, and budget.
• Review vendor bids and drawings to confirm compliance with specifications, codes, and project requirements.
• Evaluate design drawings, identify potential changes, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Consult with construction personnel on field conditions, sequencing, scheduling, and constructability.
• Ensure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements; maintain organized design calculations.
• Communicate project status and scope changes, stay current on applicable codes and standards, and coordinate or oversee supporting engineering work as needed.
