Job summary

Applied Research Laboratory at the Penn State University, in State College, PA, seeks a Mechanical Engineering Designer to join the Mechanical and Electrical Design Department. This on-site role involves drafting, 3-D modeling, and documentation control to support research programs and DoD-related projects.

You will collaborate with R&D Engineers, create 3D models and 2D drawings, and ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards while using Teamcenter PLM for documentation management.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical systems and components.
• Proficient CAD layout for component creation and drawings.
• Ability to create fully constrained 3D models.
• Familiarity with Teamcenter PLM is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical design support for research programs with R&D teams.
• Create intermediate 3D models for fabricated parts, assemblies, and COTS.
• Produce 2D detail drawings and BOMs for fabrication.
• Resolve design, material, and component issues.
• Perform documentation control, archiving, and data entry.
• Report work status and participate in design reviews.
• Utilize Teamcenter for configuration management and archiving.
• Maintain compliance training related to safety and security.
• Expand knowledge of design software and ASME Y14.5 standards.
