Job summary

Airloom Energy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to create and manage parametric 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks. You will work with mechanical engineers and manufacturing teams to translate concepts into production-ready parts while applying DFMA and ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.

The role requires 2–4+ years of CAD experience, strong spatial reasoning, and cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor or equivalent engineering degree; CAD/drafting proficiency.
2–4+ years CAD modeling with SolidWorks in product development/hardware startup.
Foundational GD&T knowledge and ASME Y14.5 standards.
Experience with BOM, ECO/ECN, and data management in SolidWorks PDM.
Ability to visualize complex assemblies and assess fit and clearances.

Responsibilities

Create and modify 3D CAD models of machined parts, assemblies, weldments, and sheet metal.
Produce fully dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
Perform tolerance stack-ups for part and assembly Interference checks.
Manage top-level assemblies, clearance, and mass properties analyses.
Coordinate with shops and vendors on DFMA and fabrication processes.
Maintain BOMs and PDM data with ECO/ECN workflows.
