Job summary

Hammond Engineers is seeking a qualified HVAC/Plumbing Building Systems Designer to join our Atlanta-area team. The role focuses on supporting design tasks across projects, with immediate hands-on involvement in drafting, calculations, and code-compliant documentation.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in HVAC or plumbing building systems, proficiency in AutoCAD MEP and Revit, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing Building Systems Design.
• Able to immediately assist and support all design aspects of assigned projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC engineering discipline and rapid support in a fast-paced department.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit, Bluebeam.
• Self-motivated with quick learning, able to accept responsibilities and take on new challenges.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year university preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform project and drawing set up tasks in Revit and AutoCAD by creating discipline-specific drawings using architectural base files.
• Independently produce basic & intermediate HVAC designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit under supervision of a senior engineer.
• Prepare HVAC engineering calculations for system design, including equipment sizing under supervision of a senior engineer.
• Read and learn international and local building codes to produce code-compliant design documents.
• Attend project meetings as needed to ensure scope of work understanding.
• Conduct site visits to survey existing conditions and document observations.
• Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members in design and specification development.
• Execute construction administration duties including first-level RFIs and submittal reviews under supervision of senior staff.
• Attend and participate in industry training to stay current on engineering concepts and technologies.
